Depression Therapy in Lawrence, KS
Compassionate support for depression and mood disorders, for when everything feels heavy, flat, or far away.

Depression lies. It tells you this is just who you are, that nothing will help, that everyone would be fine without needing so much from you. It drains the color from things you used to love.
Therapy for depression starts by taking the weight seriously. Not with pep talks, but with real understanding of how heavy it is to keep functioning while feeling this way. From there, we work gently and concretely: rebuilding energy and routine in sustainable steps, softening the brutal inner critic, and addressing the losses, trauma, or long-carried pain that often sit underneath.
I also work with clients living with bipolar disorder and other mood disorders, supporting mood stability, self-understanding, and the grief and identity questions a diagnosis can raise. Whatever it looks like for you, you don't have to manage it alone.
How we approach the heaviness
Stabilize the basics
Sleep, structure, movement, connection: we rebuild the foundations in steps small enough to actually happen on hard days.
Quiet the critic
Compassion-focused therapy directly targets the shame and self-criticism that keep depression going.
Treat the roots
Where depression grows out of trauma, loss, or long-unmet needs, we treat that directly, including with EMDR when it fits.
Common questions
Wondering about depression & mood?
Have a question that isn’t answered here? Reach out anytime.
How do I know if it's depression or just a rough patch?
If the heaviness has lasted more than a couple of weeks, is affecting sleep, work, or relationships, or you've simply stopped feeling like yourself, it's worth talking to someone. You don't need a diagnosis to deserve support.
Do you work with bipolar disorder?
Yes. I support clients with bipolar and other mood disorders in therapy, and I'm glad to collaborate with your prescriber as part of your care team.
What if I can't imagine anything helping?
Feeling that way is a symptom of depression itself, and it usually lifts as the depression does. You don't have to feel hopeful to start. Showing up is enough.
