Grief Counseling in Lawrence, KS
A steady place to carry loss, whether it's fresh and raw, or an old grief that never quite found its place.

Grief is not a problem to be fixed, and it doesn't follow stages, timelines, or anyone's expectations, including your own.
Maybe your loss is recent and the ground is still moving. Maybe it's been years and people assume you're "over it," while some days it still takes your breath away. Maybe your grief is complicated, tangled with relief, anger, guilt, or a relationship that was itself painful. All of it belongs here.
Grief counseling isn't about letting go or moving on. It's about making room for the loss while you rebuild your life around it, without having to do that alone.
How we hold grief together
Room to tell the truth
The whole truth: the beautiful memories and the complicated ones, the missing and the anger, the guilt and the relief. Grief heals in the presence of a witness who can hear all of it.
Care for the grieving body
Grief lives in the body: the exhaustion, the ache, the fog. Somatic and mindfulness-based tools help you stay tethered while the waves move through.
Continuing bonds
We work toward a continuing relationship with what you've lost, carrying the person, or the life, forward with you rather than leaving them behind.
Common questions
Wondering about grief & loss?
Have a question that isn’t answered here? Reach out anytime.
How long should grief last?
As long as it lasts. There's no schedule. Counseling is worth considering when grief feels stuck, isolating, or is keeping you from functioning, not because you've exceeded some allotted time.
Is it normal to feel angry, or even relieved?
Completely. Grief is rarely just sadness. Anger, relief, guilt, and numbness are all common, especially after long illness or complicated relationships, and none of them mean you loved less.
When does grief need trauma treatment too?
When a loss was sudden, violent, or traumatic, the trauma can block the grief from moving. In those cases we may gently combine grief work with trauma processing such as EMDR.
